TEMPO - FM2
Launch Date
March 8, 1997

TEMPO - FM2 (and FM1) has twice the power and capacity of comparable satellites. However a solar flare in 1997 knocked out three of the spacecraft's transponders and damaged the solar array.

JCSAT-4 will relay voice, data, television signals via Ku-band to eastern Asia, Australia, New Zealand, India. The same will be relayed to eastern and southern Asia and Hawaii via C-band.
